As an important carrier of history and culture, traditional patterns are the powerful evidence of the continuation of the historical context of Chinese civilization.In contemporary visual design, how to effectively inherit the core of traditional culture and adapt to future development has become a focus topic widely discussed in the design field. The painted pottery natural scenery patterns in the Yellow River basin contain rich subject matter content and diverse composition forms, and also reflect the historical civilization, social system and aesthetic taste of early human society. The value contained in it needs to be deeply explored and inherited, so that it can play a role in culture and aesthetics, arouse modern people's memory of traditional culture, and then integrate into the spiritual and cultural blood of Chinese people, becoming an important symbol of cultural confidence.

First of all, based on a large amount of schema information, this study will conduct an in-depth analysis of the origin, evolution, types and performance characteristics of the painted pottery natural scenery patterns in the Yellow River Basin, and analyze the artistic characteristics displayed by the painted pottery natural scenery patterns through multiple dimensions such as composition, modeling and color, so as to provide a solid theoretical basis for the subsequent application of the patterns. Secondly, the paper discusses the application status of painted pottery natural scenery pattern in contemporary visual design, analyzes the internal relationship between it and contemporary visual design, examines the problems existing in the application of the pattern, and finally summarizes its application principles and methods in contemporary visual design according to the characteristics of the pattern, and forms theoretical solutions to solve specific design problems. Finally, the paper explores the historical, cultural and decorative art value of painted pottery natural scenery decoration, and probes into its application methods in the process of inheritance and development, in order to promote the sustainable development and inheritance of traditional painted pottery patterns.

This paper aims to explore the design and application of painted pottery in Yellow River Basin on the basis of in-depth study of its natural scenery patterns. Based on the development needs of traditional culture and modern aesthetic needs, it provides a new thinking direction and implementation path for the innovative application and inheritance development of painted pottery natural scenery patterns, and enriches the artistic expression of the connotation of traditional culture in modern design.
